The global automotive terminals and logistics provider have entered the Brazilian market effective November 2023 through its Brazilian subsidiary Horizon Auto Logistics Ltda.
The Brazilian automotive production sits at around 2.5M cars annually with domestic sales of about 2.1M units. About half a million cars are exported per year. Major global automotive manufacturers are today present in Brazil.
Says Ignasi Sola, COO of Horizon Auto Logistics; “We are excited to begin the expansion in South America. Over the last few years we have looked at a number of markets on the continent, in addition to Colombia where we have a larger footprint since many years, and it was a natural step to move forward in Brazil being the largest economy and automotive market in South America, also from a manufacturing point of view. We look forward with optimism on the opportunities we have in front of us.”
The company will initially focus on establishing their operating model from manufacturing through to seaports, and from seaports to dealer networks and end-buyers. Particularly the Control Tower concept which will greatly enhance customers’ ability to manage their supply chains in a cost-efficient manner, optimizing output and facilitating decision making to avoid disruptions.
Horizon Auto Logistics operates in 8 markets globally, employing 650 people and handles about 650,000 vehicles and 2,000 equipment’s annually. It provides complete supply chain services for finished vehicles, which includes vessel cargo-handling, port operations, yard operations and distribution centers, VPC and EPC (technical) services, inland transportation, distribution management and plant logistics.
